Whether it's a tropical winter getaway, a long weekend in the city, a spring wellness retreat, or a summer vacation in the countryside, packing your suitcase is an inevitable and often dreaded step. We procrastinate, we overpack, and once we arrive, we realize we brought too much or forgot an essential item. However, with a little planning, packing can be simple.
Travel lighter, without compromise
The fear of missing out is very real for many people. But unless you're heading to a completely isolated region, remember that it's always possible to buy what you need once you're there.
Start by making a list of planned activities and the climate of your destination. Think first about special events: wedding, fancy dinner, hiking, beach day, conference, etc. Then, for each, put together a complete outfit , including clothing, underwear, jewelry, and shoes. This will prevent you from forgetting anything at the last minute and ensure you feel well-dressed for any occasion.
Focus on versatile pieces
Multifunctional clothing is your best friend. A dress that transforms with accessories, a lightweight jacket that goes with both smart pants and jeans, a scarf that can be used as a shawl or a sarong... It's all about choosing wisely.
The same goes for shoes, which are often heavy. There's no need to travel with a ton of pairs. Three are usually enough:
- a dressy pair (sandal, heel or boot, depending on the season)
- a comfortable pair for walking
- a sport or casual pair.
Choose colors and styles that easily combine with your outfits.
Simplify everything down to the organization
Folding, rolling, compartmentalizing...there are a thousand and one ways to efficiently organize a suitcase. Rolling clothes remains an excellent compromise for having fewer creases and more space. You can also use packing cubes to separate categories (underwear, tops, sportswear, etc.).
Here's a little tip: pack only the bulkiest items on your trip, like your coat or sneakers. This will save you space in your suitcase.
Traveling light means traveling better . Less stress, more freedom, and more room to bring back souvenirs or a few fashion finds.
